Customer Review (from iTunes about Somewhere Deep In Texas)
Rockin Honky Tonk
by Lutzkent
Rockin Honky Tonk, found this performer through Pandora, and had to check out more! Solid songs and a delivery that reminds me of a country Melissa Etheridge. Check out Any Fool Could See.

Terry Mathews/Sulphur Springs News Telegram

"It's been a long time since a girl singer had this much power and this much talent... Think Janis Joplin and K.D. Lang meet in a small, smoky bar and then decide to belt one out."

Mary Lambert/Film Director
"She sounds like Marianne Faithfull if she was from Texas."

Scott Roddy/EMMIS Radio 97.1 Hank FM
Wow! Blond? Yes. Gorgeous? Yes. Dumb? Hell no. She writes from the heart. The passion bleeds into every track... If you want to hear raw emotion, pure soul, and talent that is light years away from the standard formula, then listen to Lisa Hayes.

Fierce Love - Lisa Hayes [3:18]  lyrics
Lisa Hayes in a nutshell. "I been raised on a fierce love. That's who I am. I've been taught since a girl in this big ol' world you need to make a stand."

Any Fool Could See [3:39]  lyrics
The moment I realized, with a start, that I was in love.

She Was A Beauty [5:10]  lyrics
This song has garnered a lot of interest, especially live. It’s about my love/hate relationship with the music industry—one moment in particular. I was in a knock down-drag out with my label president about his desire to replace a band member. In the thick of it, he told me, “You know what? You’re a real beaut.” Now we all know that wasn’t a compliment. But I stuck to my guns and won that round. Years later, I was messing around with an open guitar tuning and for some reason the sound took me back to that moment. Beaut became beauty (pronounced beautay) and a song was born.

Little Black Cloud [3:45]  lyrics
The dark place some of us live in after a breakup.

She Drives [4:00]  lyrics
When I moved to Austin, I left my old life behind. This is my journey.

I Can't Find You [3:50]  lyrics
Sometimes in a relationship, no matter how hard you try and no matter how far you go, you still can’t reach the other person.

Find Me [3:36]  lyrics
I was at a crossroads in a bad relationship and, thank God, chose myself.

I Never Meant To Tell You [4:33]  lyrics
What if you ran into an old love and confessed more than you meant to?

Somewhere Deep In Texas [3:54]  lyrics
“It’s a story of love. A story of loss. A tale of too much but somehow never enough. How I carried my heart to where the green grass grows. And somewhere deep in Texas, I’m gonna let her go.”

Sweet Forgiveness available on CDBaby & iTunes.

Sweet Forgiveness - Lisa Hayes

Label: Gracye Records - Producer: David Kitay - Band: Lisa Hayes, Michael Thompson, David Kitay, Al Garth & Nick D'Virgillo

  Track Title
Hey Mr. Morning [4:09]  lyrics
As in many of my songs, I think the bridge says it best—"Can you hear me? Say you do. Can't you hear me leaving you?"

Right Now [4:22]  lyrics
Sometimes the clearest explanations are the ones I give live—it's about being horny.

Love - Lisa Hayes [4:19]  lyrics

Real Thang [4:56]  lyrics
While on tour, I stayed for a couple nights with my drummers mom and stepdad in central Oregon. We were in a cabin not too far from the main house, but you felt completely isolated. Two of the cabin's outside walls were mostly glass, and on a rare night off I was by myself watching two deer browse. For some reason, the peacefulness made it safe to write about an emotionally abusive relationship. The words poured out of me—the song done before morning's light.

Sweet Forgiveness [4:38]  lyrics
Another live introduction is the best—"This song is fortunately and unfortunately a true story."

Ghosts [5:23]  lyrics
Even though relationships are over, sometimes the ghosts remain.

Gone Gone Gone [4:10]  lyrics
This was written for a girlfriend who found the courage to leave a physically abusive relationship. She is the mildest-mannered human being I've ever met so when the lyrics get "in your face" pay no never mind—that's just me leakin' through.

Are You Still Mine [4:04]  lyrics
I was asked to write a song for the movie "Sweet Home Alabama" and this is what I came up with. I had watched the rough cut and chosen the scene where Reese Witherspoon (can't remember her movie role name) was trying to get her husband (the hillbilly one, not McDreamy) on the phone and he wouldn't answer. ANYWAYS...the song didn't get picked. On the upside, I love playing it live.

'Cause of Faith - Lisa Hayes [3:37]  lyrics
The "most" fun song to play live (and also in the studio).

Where Angels Fear To Go [5:25]  lyrics
Lyrically this is one of my favorites. "I've been walking through the ages. For so long and all alone. I've been drowning in the water. Been burning in the sand. Where angels fear to go." I'll never forget when the producer, David Kitay, invited me to drop in on a recording session where he was conducting an orchestra. He turned around and smiled at me as I stood in the control room, and then proceeded to start a song. I knew by the second measure what the orchestra was playing—they were playing "Where Angels Fear To Go." What a beautiful surprise.

Sun - Lisa Hayes & The Violets

Label: Straightline/Atlantic - Producer: Greg Ladanyi & Ed Roynesdal - Band: Lisa Hayes, Cisco DeLuna, Chuck Bramlet & Jano Janosik

Open Your Heart [3:53]  lyrics
This song is the internal struggle of someone trying to decide whether to stay or go.

Everybody Wants To Be Like You [3:46]  lyrics
I wrote this for a girlfriend I met while living in Portland, OR. She was engaged to a musician and when they talked about what would happen if he became famous, he always assured her not to worry, he'd be there for her. Well...his band landed a major label record deal, they shot to stardom, and he dumped her, truly shredding her heart. Two years later, my band was playing a small theater in Portland on a west coast tour, and my girlfriend was sitting in the second row directly in front of me. When we played this song (she knew the song was her story), tears were streaming down her face. I have to tell you, though that was over a decade ago I am still sorry for the pain I caused that evening. She assured me after the show that the tears were necessary. I hope that's the truth.

Tomorrow of Morning [2:46]  lyrics
I have written volumes of poems—my version of a diary. This is the only one I turned into a song.

Sherry Swings [2:49]  lyrics
I grew up in a small sawmill town in Oregon of 400 people. Mom and Dad understood when I moved to Los Angeles at nineteen, hell bent on becoming a musician, but there were some close friends that disapproved. To all the ones who didn't - I love you much.

Wild Place [5:09]  lyrics
Simply put, it's about the darkness of obsession.

Seeking Shelter - Rebel Train

Label: East West Records - Producer: Danny Kortchmar - Mixed by: Don Smith - Band: Lisa Enterline (Hayes), Cisco Deluna, Chuck Bramlet & Stan Lynch

  Track Title
Little Piece of Heaven [3:27]  lyrics
Again, the bridge says it all for me—"Our hearts are beating much the same and there is quiet in the flame. Our hearts are beating so we hear. I love that words aren't needed here."

Break These Chains [5:03]  lyrics
I was growing up and finally breaking free from the judgemental "chains" I'd allowed others to hang on me. So, like a typical writer, I wrote about it.
